Pat’s Rubber Legs…a great stonefly nymph….for most freestone streams with populations of stoneflies.

The video on the right shows the steps very well…fairly easy tie.  You can vary the leg color and chenille color to suit dark, golden or tan stonefly nymphs.  Likewise, tie a variety of sizes.  Winter…tiny dark patterns…and as spring progresses…increase your size.  6 down to 14 hook size depending on season…  Reminder…larger hook size number…smaller size hook.

The Rubber Legs is a great heavy point fly in a multiple fly rig with a smaller fly off a drop up a few inches to a foot from the point fly. Consider using a mini swivel as the point to connect all the flies.

• Hook: 8-12 Streamer Hook
• Tying thread: 140 denier Black or other colors ( Olive and Red are good alternatives)
• Underbody weight: lead wire
• Body:  Chenille in black and brown or olive
• Legs: Rubber or Flex floss
• Bead: Black Tungsten
