Dick Nelson Lessons

In the 1970s, Dick Nelson was instrumental in organizing and writing a series of fly tying lessons for the San Jose Flycasters. His son Bill Nelson continued the classes and together with Bill Zuravleff the classes based upon Dick Nelson’s instructions informed generations of flycasters. I am posting the majority of the instructions to honor the years of tradition of the Nelson lessons. In some cases these patterns are fairly old, but they still have relevance. While I am not following these instructions exactly but am instead teaching modernized techniques with some modern synthetic materials, these instructions are valuable reference that surely will be helpful for gaining fly tying skills. Please note that the PDF instructions may be printed and or downloaded.
